CLARE THERESE GRAY
Clare Therese Gray is an author, illustrator and pattern designer behind popular Instagram account @claretheresegray. She is inspired by the natural environment of her rural Hampshire surroundings, where she lives and works on a farm with her husband and young family. After studying Painting at Art School she went on to the Drawing Year at the Royal Drawing School where she focused on imaginative and observational drawing before launching a freelance design career.
With a focus on intricate hand-painted & drawn design imagery, it has a unique contemporary British countryside aesthetic. Clare takes on project based collaborations with like minded companies as well as bespoke artworks to create vibrant and eclectic floral & natural motifs. She is the author of three books, 'Rainforest Watercolor: A Colouring Workbook', 'Woodland Watercolor: A Colouring Workbook' and 'Painting Nature with Clare: Create Beautiful Gouache Motifs of the Garden, Countryside, Sea, River and Forest' published with Page Street Publishing. She has illustrated the children's picture books, 'The Agnes Series' published with DK.Her patterns and illustrations can be found around the world in books and fabric, on children’s and women’s apparel, luxury toiletries, stationery, ceramics and decorative objects.
With a recent move to a Georgian farmhouse in rural Hampshire, her account is moving to focus more on lifestyle content and renovation alongside relatable snapshots of studio, family and rural farm life. She has grown her engaged community of both professional and amateur artists, as well as lifestyle and design enthusiasts to over 150K on Instagram.
She is passionate about growing flowers, lino printing on paper and fabric, making and decorating pots,
and climbing the tallest mountains she can find with her family.
